CS Ops: AM Onboarding Runbook

Single SOP for CS Ops to complete AM onboarding execution in 3D Spark. Modeling is always required. Calibration and validation are conditional. CS Ops never contacts the customer.

Outcomes

  • Machine, material, and full process chain are modeled in 3D Spark.
  • Calibration is completed [only when required by the reuse path (Path B/C)].
  • Validation is completed with PASS or documented FAIL.
  • Evidence pack and CS Ops completion note are ready for CSM review in CS_Internal.

Rules

  • CS Ops never contacts the customer.
  • Store all work artifacts and evidence in CS_Internal. Customer_Upload is only for customer uploads.
  • Build time is relevant if the main process costing uses machine runtime (or runtime supervision labor) as a cost driver.
  • Accuracy acceptance when build time is relevant: default is total cost accuracy using the benchmark method (3D Spark cost with main-process build time overwritten by slicer estimates). PASS if Cost WMAPE < 10%; FAIL if Cost WMAPE >= 10%.

Inputs

  • CSM handoff note confirming customer inputs are complete (or explicitly stating what is missing).
  • Customer_Upload link with 01_Spreadsheet present.
  • If build time is relevant: customer slicer project exists in 02_Slicer_Project.
  • Customer 3D Spark organization exists.
  • CS Ops has support access to the customer organization.

Phase 1: Intake Check

  1. Verify 01_Spreadsheet exists and is usable.
  2. Confirm build time is relevant.
  3. Confirm you are logged into the correct customer 3D Spark organization (support account) before performing any 3D Spark steps.
  4. If build time is relevant, verify slicer project exists in 02_Slicer_Project.
  5. If anything required is missing, stop and inform CSM with an explicit missing-items list.

Output: update CS_Internal/Evidence/Onboarding_Execution_Note.docx (build time relevant: yes/no).

Phase 2: Verify Folder Structure (Created by CSM)

CSM should create the folder structure and share the Customer_Upload link before requesting uploads. CS Ops verifies it here.

  • Confirm Customer_Upload and CS_Internal exist with required subfolders.
  • If missing, create/recreate using: Set Up Folders.

Phase 3: Decide Reuse vs New Setup

Use the Global Calibration Library to decide whether an exact reusable setup exists.

Phase 4: No Build Time Path (Stop After Evidence)

Use this only when build time is not relevant.

Stop and handover to CSM.

Phase 5: Build Time Path (Prepare Slicer Artifacts)

Use this only when build time is relevant.

  1. Copy standard datasets: Copy Datasets: Standard CAD Sets.
  2. Save customer print settings in the slicer: Save Customer Preset: Slicer. If the slicer is GrabCAD Print, follow: GrabCAD Print Exceptions (Use with Main Workflow).
  3. Prepare build plates and export G-code: Prepare Build Plates: Slicer. If the slicer is GrabCAD Print, follow: GrabCAD Print Exceptions (Use with Main Workflow).
  4. Run the extractor and place output sheets: Run Extractor: G-code.

Phase 6: Calibration (Only If Required)

Do this only if the reuse decision requires calibration (Path B/C). If Path A applies, skip this phase.

Phase 7: Finalize Customer's 3D Spark Instance

After calibration (if required), build the full process chain (pre/main/post) and other settings using the machine and material in customer's 3D Spark Instance.

Phase 8: Validation and Decision

Phase 9: Assemble Handover Pack
