Save Customer's Preset: Slicer

This SOP explains how CS Ops extracts the customer’s printing parameters from the customer slicer project file and saves them as a selectable preset inside the slicer. Use the slicer-specific video for the exact UI steps.

Inputs

From Customer_Upload/02_Slicer_Project:

  • customer slicer project file (Cura, PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, GrabCAD Print, or supported slicer)

Rule:

  • Presets are saved inside the slicer. Do not export preset files unless a separate SOP explicitly says so.

  • You must also save the whole project as a separate project file. The whole project (.3mf) will act as the settings carrier.

Step 1: Identify The Slicer And Open The Project File

  • Identify which slicer the customer used based on the project file type and content.

  • Open the customer project file in the matching slicer.

If the file cannot be opened:

  • stop and inform the CSM

Step 2: Save The Customer Settings As A Preset

  • Open the preset or profile management UI in the slicer.

  • Save the current print settings as a new preset.

  • Save the whole project (settings carrier) as a .3mf under CS_Internal/Evidence

Preset and settings carrier (.3mf) name:

  • Use the this naming convention: MACHINE_MATERIAL_INFILL_OTHER-PARAMETER1_OTHER-PARAMETER2

  • If there is a limit in the name length, skip the machine name.

    Examples:
    Bambu Lab XE1_ABS_20%_overhang43degrees
    Fortus450mc_PC-CF_100%_overhang45degrees_no support

Rule:

  • The name must be clear for any other CS Ops
  • The preset must be selectable later from a dropdown.

Slicer videos:

  • Cura: [[VIDEO_LINK_CURA_SAVE_PRESET_TBD]]

  • PrusaSlicer: [[VIDEO_LINK_PRUSASLICER_SAVE_PRESET_TBD]]

  • Bambu Studio: [[VIDEO_LINK_BAMBU_SAVE_PRESET_TBD]]

  • GrabCAD Print: GrabCAD Print is different. Use GrabCAD Print Exceptions article for this step and the following steps.

Step 3: Confirm The Template .3mf File Can Be Opened

  • Close and restart the slicer as a new project
  • Locate the settings carrier .3mf file you saved under CS_Internal/Evidence
  • Open it and check if the machine, material and print settings are es expected

Step 4: Record The Preset and Template .3mf In Evidence Notes

Create or update a short note in CS_Internal/Evidence/Onboarding_Execution_Note.docx with:

  • slicer name

  • preset name used

  • name of the settings carrier .3mf file
  • printer shown in the slicer project file

Completion Criteria

You are done when:

  • the customer preset is saved inside the slicer

  • a .3mf file is stored under CS_Internal/Evidence with the correct customer machine, material and print settings
  • the preset is selectable from the slicer dropdown

  • preset name, settings carrier .3mf name, and slicer name are recorded in CS_Internal/Evidence/Onboarding_Execution_Note.docx
